Beau Visage Spa | Urbana small business brand session

I recently was introduced to Andrea who owns Beau Visage Spa in downtown Urbana. We hit it off right away and started brainstorming her upcoming photo needs. If you own a service-based business similar to Andrea’s, my hope is that this post will give you a glimpse into how we run an on-location photo shoot and how we use props, devices, people, and hands to help convey your brand’s message.

If you also own or run a spa, here are some additional tips for you!

  1. Plan ahead and schedule the photo session in advance (we plan Andrea’s sessions for each quarter of the calendar year)

  2. Find an experienced photographer who understands spa environments.

  3. Define your goals and vision for the photoshoot.

  4. Create a shot list covering essential spa elements. (Think about upcoming specials or deals, events, products you want to promote, new staff, etc)

  5. Consider lighting options, including natural light. (Andrea prefers a very specific look for her photos, so we go for a more dark & moody vibe with lots of deep shadows, and artificial light)

  6. Coordinate with staff and ensure they are well-presented.

  7. Incorporate branding elements into the photos.

  8. Capture the client experience when possible.

  9. Focus on details and close-up shots, in addition to wide-angle shots that establish scenes and storylines.

  10. Maintain consistency with your brand's style.

Following these tips will help you prepare for a successful brand photo session at your own spa or other business!
