Beth + Chris | Midwest outdoor amphitheater wedding | Clinton Lake
Fifteen years ago, Beth + Chris were married, but things didn't go quite as they'd planned -- the dresses were supposed to be blue and instead were yellow and not sized correctly, for instance -- and basically Beth didn't get the wedding of her dreams. This go 'round, Beth knew exactly what she wanted and had a plan and a vision. The theme of their vow renewal was red, white, lace & vintage and it was awesome to see how Beth pulled together so many DIY projects to perfectly execute her vision. Beth is a baker as a side hobby, so she made the beautiful cream-colored cake with lace details (that was delicious!). The thank you, cake and sweetheart tables were outfitted with lace, vintage plates, silver platters and red accents to make statement pieces around the reception area. She made custom hangers and necklaces for each of the bridesmaids, plus all the bouquets and boutonnieres. The take-home gift for the guests was a family cookbook of Beth + Chris's favorite recipes -- basically there was pure love emanating from every part of this wedding/vow renewal celebration. The ceremony/vow renewal itself was held in a breathtaking amphitheater near Clinton Lake, surrounded by tall trees and loved ones, including the couple's daughter who was their maid of honor. I loved the portrait session of our time together, especially with the state park as our backdrop. It's hard to go wrong with pine needle paths and tall, bare trees as inspiration!
