Creative brand session at The Reset Conference

Earlier this month, I attended the Reset Conference in Panana City Beach, FL. It was my TWELFTH Reset and it was an amazing week full of friends, laughter, education, sunshine and lots of good conversations.

The first two days of the conference are always education-packed with classes from photographers and creative educators from all over the US and Canada. I took classes covering all sorts of business topics like:

  • Turning inquiries into forever clients

  • Services that sell: Website must-haves

  • Get clients from Google (SEO focused)

  • 99 problems, but marketing isn’t one

  • How to work with brands

  • Building an annual marketing calendar

  • Pricing for Profit

I always take a ton of notes and this year was no exception. I like to handwrite my notes and then go back and type them up later to refresh them in my mind, but also to give me a searchable document and add items to my to-do list that I want to incorporate over the coming weeks. Usually as I’m in class and taking notes I will star the things that really speak to me and that will be at the very top of my go list.

This year I also participated in the third day which is an optional add-on for any attendees. There are styled shoots and 1:1 mentoring sessions, and I did one of each! First thing in the morning I did a brand styled shoot with our fantastic model and business owner, Kathryn of Sustainable Strategy Company. If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, you know that I freaking LOVE color! So Kathryn’s session was a dream!! Colorful outfits (how about those hot pink pants!!!), tons of bright, texture-y props, and a beachy/pool backdrop.

Honestly the best part of doing these shoots for me is seeing how other people interact with and direct their clients. I also love getting a fresh perspective on styling props, posing, points-of-view, and some outside-the-box thinking. And obviously I offer some of my own thoughts, poses, and styling as well.

The great thing about Reset is that it’s beneficial to both new and seasoned photographers. One of the keynote speakers asked how long people had been in business and there were many with less than 5 years experience. But there were also many with 10+ years’ experience, and even a couple that have been in business for more than 20 years! Your girl here Holly is in year 18! I can’t hardly believe it!
