Harvest 2022 | Stock photography + drone footage
I grew up on a farm and am very proud of my agricultural upbringing. I was heavily involved in both 4-H and FFA, and showed cattle for as many years as I was able as a junior member. We had lots of success in the showring, and many times I miss it. My family reminisces often about the “good ol’ days” and has lots of fond memories of our time on the show circuit.
Many years ago our small cattle herd was sold to another 4-H family in Indiana, and I was always comforted knowing that they all went to live together and to further another family’s showing adventures.
So while we no longer have the cattle, my dad still farms, but now with corn and soybeans only. He farms many acres and all the ins and outs of spring planting, fall harvest, and all that comes in between keeps him busy all year round. Equipment maintenance is never-ending.
I don’t get out to the farm during harvest every year, but I made it a priority in fall of 2022. Partly because my dad wanted me to run the drone (my maiden voyage was a challenge for sure!), and partly because I wanted to get some more ag stock photography in my catalog.
Then a few weeks later just before the end of harvest, I was also able to take my kids back home to the farm to ride in the combine for a couple of rounds. They don’t understand most of it, but my hope is that their small bit of exposure to agriculture helps them to keep an appreciation for it as they grow older.
I mentioned the drone, and I had fun running it that day and getting some harvest footage for my dad. See the video by clicking the button below:
