Sushi Siam | Central Illinois Food Photographer

Last year I photographed a new campus restaurant called Sushi Rock on Green St. The owners have recently opened another venture off-campus, and this one is conveniently located at the Old Farm Shops on Kirby (behind Panera, right next door to TCBY & Talbot’s).

Sushi Siam (website coming soon!) offers lots of Thai dishes, as well as all the sushi rolls your heart desires! The space is moderately sized and clean with lots of ambient lighting and art. My favorite part of Sushi Siam (and Sushi Rock, too) is the way they present their dishes, especially the sushi. Everything roll has that special little added touch that makes it a feast for the eyes as well as your mouth! I’ve never seen wasabi pressed into the shape of a leaf before, and I adore the oranges cut and peeled to look like fish.

After the shoot, they sent me home with some pad thai and some wonton soup, but I can’t wait to take the family back to try some other entrees and of course the sushi!
